Weekly Scarf-Tying: Floral Flair and an Elegant Classic
This week, we’re sharing two elegant ways to style a medium-large silk scarf. Create a soft floral knot when you want an eye-catching detail, or choose the classic elegant knot for a polished, timeless finish.
Both styles take just a few steps to learn, and once you know the techniques, you can adjust the final shape and placement to make the look your own. One scarf, two lovely possibilities.
Double Floral Knot
Double Loop the Scarf Around Your Neck
Action: Wrap your silk scarf twice around your neck, leaving both ends hanging in front.
Result: You should have two loose ends available to work with at the front of your neckline.
Make a Slip Knot With the Left End
Action: Take the left end of the scarf and form a simple slip knot close to your neck.
Result: You should have a slip knot on the left side, ready to receive the second loop.
Create a Loop With the Right End
Action: Take the right end of your scarf and form it into a loop, keeping it close to your neck.
Result: You should now have a loop on the right side and the slip knot on the left.
Feed the Loop Through the Slip Knot
Action: Gently feed the loop from the right side through the slip knot you created on the left, then carefully tighten the slip knot.
Result: The loop should now be pinched and held securely by the slip knot, creating the foundation for your floral shape.
Shape the Flower
Action: Adjust the loop that is pinched by the slip knot, arranging the silk until it resembles a soft floral shape.
Result: Your scarf should have an eye-catching floral detail sitting beautifully near your neckline.
Classic Elegant Knot
Triple Loop the Scarf Around Your Neck
Action: Wrap your silk scarf around your neck three times, leaving both ends hanging in front.
Result: The scarf should sit neatly around your neckline with both loose ends available in front.
Cross the Ends
Action: Take the left and right ends of the scarf and cross them over one another.
Result: The two ends should now be crossed and ready to form your knot.
Tie a Simple Knot
Action: Use the crossed ends to tie a simple knot at the front of your scarf.
Result: The knot should bring the two ends together and begin creating the classic finished shape.
Cinch and Adjust
Action: Fully cinch the knot, then gently adjust it until it sits in your preferred position.
Result: Your scarf should sit neatly around your neck with a classic, elegant knot placed just where you like it.
A silk scarf is one of the easiest accessories to carry with you and it so versatile. We showed you a couple examples of that versaility this week, but there are so many more.
