Weekly Scarf-Tying: Camellia Knot
This week I have another advanced tying technique to transform a thin silk scarf into a beautiful camellia-inspired accessory in just a few simple steps.
By the end of this guide, you'll know how to tie your silk scarf into a sophisticated camellia-inspired shape that adds a stylish finishing touch to your outfit.
Steps
Create the Double Loop
Action: Fold the thin silk scarf in half and drape it around your neck. Pull the loose ends through the folded loop to create a double loop, then cross the loop over itself and cinch it gently.
Result: You will have a neat, secure double loop that forms the foundation of the camellia tie.
Twist the Scarf Tails
Action: Twist the two loose scarf tails together evenly until they form a smooth, rope-like cord.
Result: The twisted cord creates the structure needed to build the flower.
Loop the Twisted Cord Over the Double Loop
Action: Bring the twisted cord upward and loop it back over the double loop you created at your neck.
Result: A new loop is formed that will hold the camellia shape.
Feed the Tails Through the New Loop
Action: Thread both scarf tails through the newly formed cord loop.
Result: The knot begins to take shape while remaining loose enough for final styling.
Cinch the Knot Again
Action: Gently pull the scarf tails to tighten the knot.
Result: The scarf is secured while still allowing the decorative flower to be formed.
Separate One Twist
Action: Locate the exposed twisted cord and carefully separate one of the twists to create a small opening.
Result: A small opening appears within the twisted cord, preparing it for the final shaping step.
Note: Take your time with this step to avoid undoing the entire twist.
Form the Camellia Flower
Action: Push the remaining twisted cord through the opening you created, then gently adjust the loops until they resemble the petals of a camellia flower.
Result: The scarf is secured while forming an elegant camellia-inspired flower.
This one is more complicated than normal! Watch the video tutorial and follow along step by step.
